Gold Rush Cure Foundation has made headlines in The Newport News for its decade-long commitment to bringing hope and healing to children battling cancer. The feature (written by Society Scene headline author Kelly Bennett) highlights the Foundation’s 10th annual “Celebrating Childhood Cancer Heroes” Gala—an evening filled with golden hearts, inspiring stories, and a powerful reminder of why this mission matters.

Held at Dove Canyon Country Club, the event recognized courageous childhood cancer warriors, the families who walk beside them, and the dedicated volunteers who make the Foundation’s Pot of Gold program possible. Founders Sandy and Gary Barker were honored for turning personal tragedy into a national movement of compassion, joy, and impact.

Three incredible honorees—Aalyiah, Penny and Zeke—were spotlighted for their bravery and spirit, embodying the heart of what the gala celebrates every year.
